The Department of Childhood and Youth Studies at King’s University College at Western would like to share an exciting FREE opportunity for children ages 7 – 13 years old to be involved in an initiative called ‘Shaking the Movers.’

WHAT IS SHAKING THE MOVERS?

A child-friendly workshop developed by Senator Landon Pearson (Canada’s former Senator for Children) which provides a fun, interactive opportunity for young people to become informed about their rights and share their opinions on matters that impact children’s lives.

This year’s theme focuses on young people’s ideas about how to make the world a better place (A World Fit for Children). Ideas shared by children will be passed onto decision makers across Canada in an effort to better our world and ‘Shake the Movers.’

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN SHAKING THE MOVERS:

  • Children will become informed about rights
  • Children will have their voices heard on issues that matter to them
  • Children can share solutions and recommendations for change
  • Children can work with other change-makers on fun activities
  • Children can provide feedback on making our world a better place
  • Children will receive a participation certificate

Each child will also receive a change-makers kit by mail with: modelling clay, a ‘colour your own’ backpack and pencil case, fabric markers, pencil crayons, stickers, a rights-poster, a change-makers workbook, and more!
