Canada’s response to the fourth Universal Periodic Review (UPR4) is now available online on the United Nations Human Rights Council website (OHCHR | Universal Periodic Review – Canada). Ambassador Leslie E. Norton, Permanent Representative of Canada to the UN in Geneva, will be presenting Canada’s response at the Human Rights Council (date to be confirmed). Recent Publication from the Office of Senator Rosemary Moodie: From Vision to Reality: On a National Strategy for Children and Youth in Canada. The results of the consultations with children, youth, and advocates across the country on the need for a National Strategy inspired Senator Moodie’s recently tabled bill, Bill S-282, An Act respecting a national strategy for children and youth in Canada. Opportunity to join the Prime Minister’s Youth Council (PMYC): On March 14, 2024, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, along with the Honourable Marci Ien, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Youth, launched a campaign to recruit members for the next Prime Minister’s Youth Council (PMYC). Please share with children and youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are interested in sharing their voices, perspectives, and opinions with Government of Canada officials to influence policies and decisions in Canada. The deadline to apply is April 14, 2024, at 11:59 pm (Pacific Time).
