Canada’s reporting under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)

Canada will be presenting its combined second and third reports (submitted November 2022) before the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) at the 32nd Session on March 10 & 11, 2025 at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Civil Society organizations can submit parallel/alternative reports. The deadline for submitting written information for an Organization of Persons with Disabilities, Civil society organization, National Human Rights Institution, or Independent Monitoring Mechanism, are as follows:

  • Four months before the pre-session in which the Committee will adopt a list of issues or a list of issues prior to reporting.
  • Four weeks before the session when a report is scheduled to be considered.

Information and guidelines for independent monitoring mechanisms and National Human Rights Institutions can be found on the OHCHR website. Parallel reports can be submitted in French or in English and cannot exceed 10,700 words and 5,350 words for other submissions. Reports should be emailed directly to the secretariat of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at ohchr-crpd@un.org. If you do not want your submission to be published on the UN website, you have to make it clear upon submission that the report is confidential.
