National Law



To mark International Children’s Day, the Children’s Rights Alliance and UCC will host an online event with Professor Ursula Kilkelly and Professor Laura Lundy to discuss their recently published book ‘Incorporating the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child’, the first comprehensive analysis of global progress towards giving legal effect to the Convention in national law.

The event will consist of a keynote address from Professor Ursula Kilkelly and Professor Laura Lundy with inputs from Juliet Harris, Director of Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights) and Josh Kennedy MSYP, Chair of the Scottish Youth Parliament on recent developments relating to the incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into Scots law. Tanya Ward, our Chief Executive, will chair the event.
 
Dr Niall Muldoon, the Ombudsman for Children, Lara Hynes from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and Saoirse Brady from the Children’s Rights Alliance will join the speakers for a panel discussion on the benefits of incorporation of UNCRC into national law and how this might be achieved.

The panel event will take place via Zoom webinar on Wednesday 17 November 2021
from 1-2.30pm
