On November 12, 2021, with the support of Professor Daniella Bendo, Childhood and Youth Studies students at King’s University College at Western will facilitate an online ‘Shaking the Movers’ workshop with young people aged 8-12 years old. Shaking the Movers is the name of the rights-based, collaborative model that was developed by the Landon Pearson Resource Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children’s Rights (Carleton University) in 2007. Shaking the Movers is an annual youth-driven and youth-led workshop series held in different regions of the country in both English and French. The workshops enable young people to explore the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as rights-based topics in the context of their lived experiences. Young people’s perspectives, insights, and recommendations are received by decision makers across Canada. More info on Shaking the Movers can be found here: https://carleton.ca/landonpearsoncentre/shaking-the-movers/
