Human Rights 75 Initiative: 2024 Summit of the Future (News from Child Rights Connects)

Human Rights 75 Initiative: fill out the survey to define the strategic direction of the UN Human Rights Office and inform the 2024 Summit of the Future

As part of the campaign for the 75th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights celebrations, the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) is undertaking a participatory process to define its strategic direction for the period of 2024-2027. The strategic planning process will take place throughout 2023, culminating with the launch of OHCHR’s Management Plan for 2024-2027 in early 2024. The outcome of this process will also define OHCHR’s contribution to support of member States’ delivery of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

As a first step, OHCHR is launching a survey through an online questionnaire to seek advice on emerging human rights trends, challenges and opportunities for positive impact; and possible thematic areas of focus for OHCHR. This participatory process is a key opportunity to engage with the UN Human Rights Office and to participate in the determination of the future direction, relevant to the changing context.

The results of the survey will also inform the Vision Statement for Human Rights, that the OHCHR will present at a high-level event on 11-12 December 2023 and that will feed into the 2024 UN Summit of the Future

We encourage all of our members and partners to provide inputs to this survey and ensure that the OHCHR upcoming priorities and the 2024 UN Summit of the Future have a strong focus on child rights mainstreaming, including child participation!

The deadline to fill out this questionnaire is 15 June 2023. You can access it here:

Please note that a child-friendly version of the survey will be developed.
