Ending Violence Against Children in Canada

This spring, join the CCRC and global partners as we work together to #ENDViolence against children. As we announced at the end of last year, the activities in the next few months are an important next step toward the ambitious goal of ending all forms of violence against children by 2030, one of the Sustainable Development Goals.

First, we are thrilled to announce a CCRC webinar on this topic:

Canada’s Children Deserve Protection from Violence: A Call to Action:

April 29, 2021: 12:00pm-1:00pm EST

Registration Link: Canada’s Children Deserve Protection from Violence: A Call to Action

Presenters: Dr. Joan Durrant & Dr. Valerie Michaelson

Topic: The presenters will discuss how Canadians can work together to #endcorporalpunishment. This webinar is one day before the International Day to End Corporal Punishment of Children on 30th April.

We also encourage everyone – Governments, organisations and individuals – to support a statement calling for accelerated action to prohibit and eliminate corporal punishment of children. Please help build the movement by adding your organisation or name in support of the statement. You can find more information about the events and statement of support here.

In addition to the global statement, a broad group of Canadians is calling on the public to sign a petition to free Canada from violence. They include victim advocates, public health, faith-based communities, social justice, municipalities, and academics.

Finally, we encourage you to check out the Public Health Agency of Canada webinar series on Ending Violence Against Children, including their first webinar on May 6.
