About 2026 International SpankOut Day
|
This day (30 April) is a global initiative dedicated to ending the physical punishment of children. Despite a clear global consensus, Canada still has not prohibited the practice. This means that children remain the only group of citizens in our country not fully protected from physical violence under the law. This year, the Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children has partnered with Kids Rights Canada to call for the full ban of corporal punishment in Canada. We are advocating for a fundamental shift in how society approaches discipline — from behavior control to procedural justice at home. To equip our communities with practical tools, we are launching a Joint Statement alongside two brand-new resources:
|
- Rights-Based Parents - Empowering the Next Generation: A toolkit offering caregivers practical, scenario-based alternatives to physical discipline.
- My Body, My Wellbeing, My Rights!: A booklet that translates children’s rights into friendly language and a guide to finding a trusted adult.
Lastly, thank you for your continued support of us!
